Technical : The Magico S3 MK2 is the successor to the Magico S3 MK1. The Magico S3 MK1 was already groundbreaking with regard to performance for its size, and in general. It's almost hard to imagine that the performance of a Magico S3 could be improved further. Yet Magico has managed to improve performance significantly. First of all, there is a completely new tweeter. The Beryllium tweeter has received an extra diamond coating on the inside. The purity has increased, and the resonance peaks have been dampened. The treble reproduction is now more relaxed. The midrange driver in the S3 MK2 is made of Graphene, a material that didn't even exist 10 years ago. Graphene is lighter, denser and stiffer than nanotech, and the performance in the midrange has improved significantly. You hear more dynamics, but also here again, more tranquility. The woofers are also now made of composite Graphene, and the cabinet is still closed. The top plate is now milled, on the tube side and on the inside, to reduce reflections and further avoid standing waves in the cabinet. The inside is thus hollowed out. Under the S3 MK2 there is also a milled heavy aluminum plate for more stability. The Magico S3 MK2 is the largest loudspeaker made from one piece of aluminum in the world.

Listening : In terms of sound quality, there's really nothing left to wish for with the Magico S3 MK2. The Magico S3 was already the top of its segment, the S3 MK2 is clearly better. Even more openness, purity, and dynamics but also tranquility and musicality. Even if you turn it up quite loud, the Magico S3 MK2 remains unflappably musical, neutral, never harsh and always pure. Spod Spikes :

This S3 MK2 set comes with the Spod decouplers. With these, the S3 MK2 goes a whole lot further. The bass is better, the spatial imaging much larger, but the biggest difference we find is the inner tranquility. This increases spectacularly. The soundstage, which is much larger, comes to life from a quiet and very calm background. The Magico S3 mk2 doesn't become more spectacular because of it, but simply much more analog, more 3D and more importantly, it just sounds more interesting. More music, less technique.
