Technical Details : The Mark Levinson No. 532H is essentially 2 monoblock amplifiers built into one chassis. Not only is the amplifier completely dual-mono configured, each channel also has its own power supply with a massive toroidal transformer. It is therefore no wonder that the Mark Levinson No. 532H weighs as much as 33.6 kg. The amplifier is constructed this way to achieve maximum grip and control over virtually all speakers with the lowest possible noise level. With its very stable 300 Watts per channel at 8 Ohms, the Mark Levinson No. 532H truly has the ability to drive large and heavy speakers, including sealed box speakers and Magnetostats. The enormous cooling fins are located on the inside of the amplifier, so the final design of the chassis is beautifully finished in a neutral and streamlined manner without large fins on the outside. Instead of gaudiness and extravagance, the Mark Levinson No. 532H radiates solidity and quality.

Listening : Sound-wise there is a tremendous amount of quality to be found in the entire reproduction. The sound is simply correct on all fronts. The bass is firm, tight and rhythmic but never excessive or muddy. Voices and instruments sound natural and full and the high tones are rich in detail yet very refined. The entire soundstage and various elements in the recordings are harmonically balanced, you hear neither too much nor too little of anything. This may make the Mark Levinson No. 532H not the most spectacular amplifier, but rather a very neutral and honest amplifier without pretense that lets you hear the entire recording and everything in it effortlessly without listening fatigue.
