Technology : The Analog Domain DAC1 can convert all signals, including High Res files and DSD files up to DSD256 format. All input data is converted to 24bit and resampled at an extremely high rate. DSD files are unpacked, converted to PCM and resampled. All resampled data then passes through a digital filter which is configured to the optimal mode for the output signal of the sample rate converter. Finally, the signal goes to the DAC where it is ultimately converted to an analog signal. The different stages the signal passes through are synchronized to a single clock of extremely high precision for perfect timing. With the Analog Domain DAC1, you also do not need an external clock, this would work against it. This Analog Domain DAC1 is equipped with the optional analog volume control which features a remote control so you can also directly drive power amplifiers with it. The whole unit is built in a beautiful cabinet with aluminum top plate, very solidly constructed and with a sleek design.

Listening : The Analog Domain DAC1 sounds truly brilliant. A very clean, open and dynamic reproduction with a large soundstage that really comes toward you. Everything sounds very precise and realistic, the bass is tight and powerful, the midtones are clean and full and the high tones are very fast and precise, but not harsh. When listening to the Analog Domain DAC1, the smallest details immediately stand out, you actually hear everything as it is meant to be. Despite being a very dynamic DAC, the Analog Domain DAC1 is of such high quality that the dynamics are very refined and it never sounds hard or harsh. You get all the details very well, but you are not attacked by them. You also find this character in the amplifiers from Analog Domain. This Analog Domain DAC1 is a demo model from the Dutch importer and is only 1.5 years old, otherwise it is in absolute like-new condition and comes complete with the original packaging and remote. The optional analog volume control has also been installed, allowing you to connect the Analog Domain DAC1 directly to power amplifiers.
