Technical: The Antipodes Audio P2 is a solid, heavy CNC-machined unit with additional digital outputs for your Antipodes EX or CX Streamer. Since Antipodes Audio manufactures the most precise streamers in the world, it is of paramount importance that this superior signal is preserved when you want to use outputs other than the specific USB output of the EX or CX. The P2 takes the raw data from the USB output with 5Volt from the EX or CX or other streamers with a very good 5V USB output. This data is re-clocked in the P2 with a Femto clock.

These outputs are very useful for someone working with D/A Converters that are not equipped with a high-quality USB input. As is generally known, all top DA Converters use a USB input board which is powered by the source, in this case the Antipodes Audio EX or CX. This also explains why the power supply of the USB output must be so extremely good. The ability to use the outstanding Femto precision clock for your other digital equipment via the Word Clock Output is a very interesting option. Most DA Converters have a good clock, but the category of DA Converters up to 5000 euro often use a clock that is inferior to that of the Antipodes Audio P2. Furthermore, the P2 is also an anti-vibration platform for the EX or CX.

Listening: Until now, we know the Antipodes CX <> EX combination as one of the best-sounding streaming solutions in the world. We then use the USB output connected to the USB input of a top DA Converter from, for example, Bricasti, Analog Domain and the like. When we now connect the P2 to our USB cable, other things happen. Some described it as a more analog sound. Now we think that also has to do with the DA Converters used. But the changed sound balance is also a matter of personal taste. What we have not yet been able to test is the I²S output, but we have learned from Mark Jenkings (Owner Antipodes Audio New Zealand) that at the various trade shows customers responded very enthusiastically to the use of the other digital outputs.

Conclusion: The Antipodes Audio P2 is an excellent solution for people with DA Converters with inputs other than the high-quality USB input, and those who have a DA Converter with a Word Clock input.
