General : Solidly built balanced preamplifier from AVM

Technical : You can immediately see from the AVM PA-8 that it is a high-end preamplifier with great attention to detail. The chassis is made of beautifully finished heavy aluminum plates and from the moment you power it on, the amplifier initializes completely and checks which optional modules are installed. In this AVM PA-8, however, only 1 optional module is installed, and it's the best sounding module, the XLR tube output module. There are also optional modules available for digital inputs (USB or SPDIF Coax) or a phono module MM/MC.

Listening : The AVM is a very musical preamplifier. The sound itself is neutral, refined, transparent and not aggressive. Especially with solid jazz music and large orchestral works, it's a fine preamplifier that maintains excellent overview and control and produces no listening fatigue. Certainly with the tube output, that bit of magic that tubes can provide is added to the sound.
