General : The Borresen Z2 is a 2.5-way floor standing speaker of medium size. The Z-series from Borresen Acoustics is more affordable than the more expensive 0-series, yet there are no compromises on quality. The tweeter and drivers are the same units as those in the 0-series from Borresen Acoustics.

Engineering : The Borresen Z2 features a very thoughtfully designed cabinet. The black baffle is made of HDF and features a clean, screwless design. While the 0-series from Borresen Acoustics is horn-shaped, the Z-series is square with rounded corners. The drivers and crossovers are manufactured by Børresen in-house. The drivers & tweeter used are unique. The dipole planar foil ribbon tweeter is made from a special type of foil and has a moving mass of only 0.01 grams, driven by a fast and extremely powerful Super-Neodymium N52 magnet. The 8" woofer and 4.5" midrange driver feature a 4 millimeter thick 'Nomex Honeycomb Core' design with two layers of nonwoven carbon fiber from the Japanese manufacturer 'Toray', a high-tech company that also supplies components for Formula 1 cars and the aerospace industry. Like the tweeter, the cones are driven by a powerful Neodymium N52 magnet. The combination of both low moving mass and powerful N52 Neodymium drive ensures extremely fast acceleration of the units, resulting in rapid transient response. The materials used provide extremely low self-inductance, which minimizes distortion and resonance. The Borresen Z2 is an open system, but through intelligent use of diffusers at the bass ports, the ports do not emit large sound waves with high energy toward the wall. Instead, the sound waves are broken up and reduced, resulting in lower energy output from the ports. This allows you to place the Borresen Z2 relatively close to the rear wall without the bass resonating or dominating. That said, some extra space is often desirable for optimal sound quality.

Listening : The Borresen Z2 sounds unlike any other speaker in its price class. So controlled, so spatial, and so refined and free from resonance, at any volume. It immediately becomes clear that we are dealing with a very special speaker. The reproduction is very precise and realistic, yet at the same time there is an immense sense of calm throughout. You are immediately placed in the space where the performers are playing, whether it's a small studio, a large concert hall, or even a stadium. The Borresen Z2 captures the atmosphere with remarkable accuracy. The Borresen Z2 can play quite loudly, and even at the highest volumes the soundstage remains stable and never becomes fatiguing. Besides high volumes, you can of course also enjoy the Borresen Z2 at low volumes. Thanks to the extremely low moving mass of the ultra-light tweeter & drivers, even at quiet music levels in a living room, you hear every detail clearly and see a spacious soundstage. The Borresen Z2 is a speaker you will most likely never want to part with. Unless the 0-series from Borresen Acoustics comes within reach.
