The bass enclosure is a matrix enclosure, with generous bass port at the bottom, which flows into the metal base of the 801. The massive 38cm woofer together with the bass enclosure provides ultra deep and tight bass. The Kevlar midrange unit delivers very clear and open midrange. The aluminum dome tweeter is also in a separate rubber-suspended and vented enclosure. Due to the stepwise staggering of bass/mid and treble, the B&W 801 Nautilus is excellent phase coherent.

Sound : The B&W 801 Nautilus sounds excellent. First, the bass reproduction. This is world-class. Deep, dry and very controlled. The midrange sounds clear and open and tonally very correct. An excellent 3D presentation rounds everything off. A downright captivating speaker that never sounds fatiguing.
