General : The Chord Hugo TT2 is a tabletop D/A Converter and headphone amplifier. The Hugo TT2 is the second-best model from Chord Electronics from the United Kingdom.

Technical : The Chord Hugo TT2 has been completely redesigned compared to its predecessor, the Hugo TT, and its smaller sibling, the Hugo 2. The Chord Hugo TT2 has 5 times the processing power compared to its predecessor. No file format is too much for the Chord Hugo TT2, as it can convert PCM signals up to 768kHz and DSD files up to DSD512. The digital-to-analog conversion is not performed by traditional DAC chips, but by a powerful Xilinx Artix 7 FPGA processor specially coded by Chord's chief designer John Franks. The Chord Hugo TT2 is a technical masterpiece, which is clearly demonstrated by its specifications and measurements. Additionally, this Chord TT2 is supplied with a Farad Super3 external power supply with Farad DC cable. This is a quiet and powerful supply for optimal performance.

Listening : The Chord Hugo TT2 sounds neutral, transparent and detailed. The spatial imaging is expansive and very clear. The music and everything around it is well intelligible, meaning that the articulation is excellent. You get a good sense of everything happening in the recording. The music is presented in a clean and neutral manner. Yet the sound is not bare or analytical, the sound is simply less colored compared to many other DACs on the market.
