General : Sleek 2-way floor-standing speakers which can be adjusted to your personal taste through external crossovers. Clio Acoustic speakers are designed in the Netherlands by speaker designer Marcel Boersma.

Technical Details : This set of Clio Muze 5A is very solidly built, the speakers weigh approximately 34kg each. The drivers used are the recognizable tweeter and midrange/bass driver from Dynaudio. With this set, Clio Acoustic has removed the crossovers from the speakers and placed them in a beautiful external enclosure. Not only that, but a second crossover based on paper in oil capacitors has also been installed in the external boxes, along with multiple tweeter settings using supplied bridges with gold-plated contact points.

External Crossover Settings : The external crossovers can be adjusted in several ways, with virtually all settings relating to the tweeter. The first setting you can make is determining the dB level of the tweeter. The standard crossover uses a -6dB setting, but you now have the option to adjust the tweeter from -5dB to -8.3dB in 10 steps. As a second setting, you can determine the crossover frequency of the tweeter. Standard for the Muze 5A is somewhere between 2200Hz and 2500 Hz. But with this set you have the ability to filter the tweeter at a higher or lower frequency. In this way, this set of Clio Muze 5A can be adjusted to your personal taste. Additionally, there are 2 extra filters built in, 1 to weaken all frequencies above 6kHz by 4dB, and 1 to weaken frequencies around 7kHz by 6dB. These filters can be completely bypassed using a single bridge. The 7kHz -6dB dip is for people who are sensitive to the 'S sounds' found around this frequency. The other setting is to dampen the highs slightly for people who are sensitive to higher tones. Since both options can be completely bypassed, you can let this set of Clio Muze 5A sound the way it should, but it's a nice option to have for people with more sensitive hearing at higher frequencies. Finally, there are switches on the crossovers to adjust the steepness of the filters for the woofer and tweeter in 3 positions, steep/medium/flat. The crossovers are built in beautiful enclosures made by Clio Acoustic with wooden sides.

Listening : The Clio Muze 5A has a very natural, pleasant yet powerful sound thanks to the Dynaudio drivers. They are very musical and enjoyable speakers to listen to. They handle poor recordings very well, but with good recordings they really let you hear what's in them. The Clio Muze 5A can also play loudly with electronic music or drum solos, but they also handle beautiful vocal music and quiet chamber music well. Emotional transfer is well present due to the very refined and organic sound. If the overall sound is playing a bit too quietly for your taste, you can reduce the tweeter attenuation and let it contribute more to the midrange. If you adjust the Clio Muze 5A in this way, they sound more open and transparent. We ourselves have achieved the best results by adjusting the speakers as Clio Acoustic does it as standard with these speakers, or a slightly fresher adjustment. For our part, it doesn't need to be much quieter than the standard crossover specifications. But for those who prefer a warmer and quieter sound (it remains a personal hobby), the option is available, which is the advantage of having the option to adjust the speakers to your personal taste. The Clio Muze 5A has bass reflex ports on the rear and are easy in their bass response, for people with little space around the speakers the bass ports can be sealed with foam plugs which makes the bass response very good in smaller rooms where the speakers are also placed close to the rear wall.

This set of Clio Acoustic Muze 5A is in excellent visual condition, we received extensive instructions from the previous owner for adjusting the crossovers, which is very simple. Plenty of gold-plated bridges are also supplied, as well as manuals, original invoices and speaker cables from the crossover to the speakers (which can optionally be upgraded by purchasing other cables for this). The set is finished in a stylish high-gloss piano lacquer grey finish which previously had a surcharge of € 500,-.
