Optimal power distribution begins with a properly installed power circuit in your home. It's simpler than it seems. All you need is a direct connection to your equipment, or very close to it. This direct cable, preferably the Gigawatt LC-Y MK3+ cable, is connected to the safety switch. It will trip in case of a short circuit. This is mandatory, because without this safety switch there is a risk of fire in your home. As your very first upgrade, you will need to replace the standard Automatic Stop, or old-fashioned fuse, with the Gigawatt G-C20A.

Switches or Circuit Breakers

In audio circles, there are many opinions when it comes to power, power switches and fuses. A standard switch, which is probably built into your home, works fine for safety, but the contacts in such a switch do not account for very sensitive audio equipment. The switches can "crackle" quite a bit, which has a negative effect on the sound quality of your system. Cheap switches also have a non-optimal current path and poor connection terminals. Cheap switches are fine for safety, but unsuitable for pure Hi-Fi and High End audio installations.

Fuses

Older homes often have an old-fashioned fuse box with fuses. If you cause a short circuit, the fuse will blow, the wire melts. You will then need to replace the fuse. The major disadvantage of a fuse is that all power must flow through a tiny small wire. If you use a couple hundred watts, the wire already gets warm, and that is already detrimental to the speed of power delivery. You can hear it. If you use more power, the wire gets hot, and even the entire fuse gets hot. The audible results get progressively worse. If you exceed the fuse rating, for example above 2300 watts with a 10 ampere fuse, the wire melts through for safety reasons. Fuses do not have the crackling side effects of ordinary electronic switches, but they have a strong dampening effect on your audio system. So fuses are not it either. Not even if the fuse wire is made of silver, gold, or if the fuse is assembled by angels in moonlight. It's simply unsuitable.

The Gigawatt G-C20A Circuit Breaker is an electronic safety switch, made especially for Gigawatt by Carling Tech USA. The housing of the Gigawatt G-C20A is made of Bakelite. This ensures that the contact surfaces of the switch, the silver-plated disconnectors, are 100% flat against each other at all times. You can understand that if these contact surfaces are even slightly misaligned by 1/100mm, the contact is no longer optimal. The Gigawatt G-C20A is completely made of demagnetized and cryo-treated material. The contact surfaces of the disconnector are made of solid copper, which is silver-plated and then polished. You are assured that the Gigawatt G-C20A in closed position truly allows all current to flow unimpeded, without any side effects. The audible difference with an ordinary or so-called audiophile switch is enormous. The Gigawatt G-C20A switch simply fits in your modern meter cabinet, next to ordinary electronic switches. The Gigawatt G-C20A allows 20A of current to pass through, which is 4600 watts, and will disconnect the contacts when exceeded. This way your system continues to work optimally, and in case of a short circuit, overload or other problem, the switch will open. You can restore the connection by switching the switch back to 1.
