Technical Specifications : The Gold Note DS-10 is a very high-quality DAC for its size and price range. The DAC chips used are the AKM AK4493 and these can convert PCM signals up to 32bit/384kHz as well as DSD files up to DSD512. In other words, every signal can be converted without any issues. The Gold Note DS-10 also has many inputs on board including USB-B, AES/EBU, SPDIF Coax and Toslink Optical. For outputs you have a balanced XLR output and an unbalanced RCA output. There is also an excellent built-in headphone amplifier which can be switched between Low Sensitivity and High Sensitivity to get the best out of your headphones. The Gold Note DS-10 is easy to set up and operate. You can use it as a DAC only, then you switch off the analog volume control and the DAC gives a fixed volume output of 2 Volts, but you can just as easily switch the volume control back on to use the Gold Note DS-10 as a preamp connected directly to a power amplifier. There is also a connection on the back to connect the optional Gold Note PSU-10 Evo for even better sound quality.

Streaming Functionality : The built-in streamer of the Gold Note DS-10 can be connected via an ethernet port on the back of the device, but a WiFi antenna is also supplied to make a wireless connection to the network. The built-in streamer can play signals from Tidal (including MQA files), Qobuz, Deezer and Spotify. Playback is also possible via Airplay but the DS-10 is also RoonReady. The advantage of using Roon is that you can also control the volume control of the DAC hardware in the Roon Remote App.

Listening : The Gold Note DS-10 has a very high-quality sound when you take its functionality, size and price into account while listening. The Gold Note DS-10 sounds very transparent and pleasant. Rhythmically the sound is spot on, even very fast and busy passages are rendered very tightly. So you can safely listen to fast and rhythmic music such as Flamenco or drum solos with plenty of dynamics and openness. But with quiet jazz and classical music, the Gold Note DS-10 delivers a very rich and refined sound that immediately makes you want to listen and keep listening. All in all, the Gold Note DS-10 is a very musical compact DAC with many possibilities. This Gold Note DS-10 is in excellent condition and comes with the original packaging and accessories.
