General : The Harbeth 40.2 is Harbeth's largest reference monitor loudspeaker.

Technology : The Harbeth 40.2 is a large 3-way monitor loudspeaker. It looks like it came straight out of the 1970s, but don't be mistaken. The Harbeth 40.2 is packed with modern technology. Equipped with Harbeth's newly developed units for bass and midrange. Resulting in incredibly low distortion. The technology is relatively conventional but there's nothing wrong with that. The biggest upgrade is the completely redesigned crossover. The cabinet walls are intentionally designed to be relatively soft and subsequently damped with bitumen. This results in very low cabinet resonance. This means you don't have the impression that you're listening to a square box with drivers in it, but instead the cabinet stays out of the way of the music and the sound is beautifully stable and comes beautifully clear from the loudspeakers. The woofer is very large, powerful and well damped and is supported by two bass reflex ports at the front.

Listening : The Harbeth 40.2 is a very pleasant sounding loudspeaker. This will undoubtedly appeal to everyone immediately. Everything sounds very musical and free from annoying distortions and harshness. The music simply flows from it. Classical, pop, rock, you can play anything through the Harbeth 40.2 and it will take it all without any protest. Due to the size of this enormous woofer, you get the impression that you're hearing some kind of booming subwoofer bass, but nothing could be further from the truth. The bass reproduction is beautifully full and deep but especially also musical and controlled, whether you're listening to electronic music or a double bass, the bass always behaves exemplarily and doesn't get in the way of the other frequencies. Summed up in one sentence, the Harbeth 40.2 is a well-balanced, slightly warm-tinted and musical sounding loudspeaker that is very transparent in conveying the essence of the music being played. An evening listening to these speakers invariably means going to bed late, because the Harbeth 40.2 keeps inviting you to keep listening.

This set of Harbeth 40.2 comes in the more expensive Eucalyptus finish, the set is in perfect condition and is supplied including high-quality Tonträger stands which are specially made for this model. The original packaging for the speakers has also been preserved.
