EN.

General : The Horning Aristoteles is the smallest model in the High Efficiency series by Horning Hybrid from Denmark.

Technical : Like its larger sibling the Eufrodite NWB and the Agalme NWB, the Aristoteles features the latest speaker units. The woofers are the new Neodymium variants, with extremely high power and speed. 4 woofers per cabinet are installed, 2 visible and 2 inside the cabinet. The woofer section is completely unfiltered, ensuring optimal amplifier control and unmatched bass reproduction. The bass section terminates in a transmission line without damping, deliberately chosen for the desired speed. The bass/midrange unit is a Horning Full Range unit with a very strong magnet, also unfiltered. Only 2 small notch filters are built in to dampen critical resonances. The moving mass of the midrange unit is very low at just 6 grams, and the cone is made of very light special paper. Many believe paper remains the best material for an ideal cone. Due to the absence of a filter, there are no phase shifts across the frequency range, and the efficiency of the entire speaker is very high. The tweeter is also a special paper cone version, ultra light, very fast, and according to Tommy Horning significantly better than diamond, beryllium, ceramic and similar tweeters. The tweeter is filtered with a single component. Particularly noteworthy is the very high efficiency of the entire system. While most speakers reach only 90dB efficiency, the Aristoteles NWB has an efficiency of 96dB, which is 4 times more effective—meaning you need 4 times less power. The Horning Aristoteles NWB is therefore ideal for small amplifiers and beautiful tube amplifiers.

Listening : If you are looking for a very naturally sounding speaker—comparing it to expensive Magicos and Avalons, or the latest B&W series—you cannot overlook Horning Hybrid speakers. The first impression of the Aristoteles is that it is very easy on the ear. The Aristoteles is a very clean and open-sounding system with great refinement and beautiful detail. The bass is superb and goes truly deep. No bloat or boom here, but razor-sharp reproduction of reality. This bass performance is more reminiscent of the Magnepan 20.7 speaker than a heavy-sounding system. A grand concert piano sounds like a grand concert piano, not an electronic version. The soundstaging is also at a high level. The speaker disappears completely, so the music truly comes free from the Aristoteles NWB. The Horning Aristoteles NWB is a relatively compact floor-standing speaker that performs optimally in both small and large rooms. Placement is simple, and the Horning Aristoteles can be placed right against the wall, even in a corner. Horning Hybrid even recommends a position near the room corners. Plenty of placement freedom, then. The Horning Aristoteles NWB is the latest creation from Horning Hybrid of Denmark and is on demo at Ohm-Audio BV.
