General : Large floor-standing 4-way loudspeaker with Kef hypertweeter

Technology : The Kef Reference 205 features a bass reflex system with bass ports on the front below the woofers. Kef has always made small adjustments and improvements to its loudspeakers when creating the reference series. However, with the reference series they went all out and made larger modifications. The cabinets were no longer square, but curved oval at the back, which helps reduce internal resonances and cabinet coloration. For the first time we saw the Uni-Q array titanium dome tweeter and the titanium dome 'hypertweeter'. Revolutionary for their time and still sounding fantastic today. The Kef Reference 205 features a boundary setting on the back where you can easily adjust whether the speakers are free-standing or placed closer to the rear/side walls. This makes it easy to avoid excessive bass and 'boom'. The Kef has an impedance of 8 Ohm and an efficiency of 90dB at 1 Watt. They are also extremely easy to drive for virtually any amplifier, including tube amplifiers.

Listening : Listening to the Kef Reference 205 is a pleasure. No detail is overlooked and everything is reproduced in a natural and honest way. The bass goes very deep and never loses control, remaining crystal clear even at higher volumes. Voices are reproduced clearly and soundstages are realistic in front of you. The tweeter and hypertweeter work in harmony together to handle the highs, everything is audible but you don't get stressed out, on the contrary, the Kef Reference 205 is a loudspeaker where you can feel at home, take a seat on your couch and enjoy music all evening long in a wonderful way. Listening fatigue is not an issue here. This set of Kef Reference 205 is still in excellent condition and ready for many years of musical enjoyment in your home.
