General: Substantial standmount speaker with many innovative technologies.

Technical: The TAD Compact Evolution CE-1 is a technically very special speaker. It is a standmount speaker, though a very large one. It is a very sophisticated 3-way speaker. The bass is reproduced by an 18cm woofer, driven by a heavy and very powerful neodymium magnet. The bass is supported by 2 bass reflex ports on the side of the speaker, which are covered by a solid aluminum plate. The ports show no signs of bass reflex noise, and the bass reproduction is surprisingly deep for a standmount speaker, and can also play quite loudly. The midrange/treble tweeter is a coaxial unit with a beryllium dome tweeter and an aluminum midrange unit. This unit is one of the best coaxial units in the world. From 250Hz to 100,000Hz comes from this single unit, and is therefore a point source. A large and super-stable spatial image is the result. The cabinet of the TAD Compact Evolution CE-1 is very heavily constructed and completely resonance-free. A single cabinet weighs as much as 30kg net. The stands are specially made for the TAD Compact Evolution CE-1 and are simply perfect. Very heavily constructed and acoustically silent. The speaker connections are very substantial gold-plated specimens. The TAD Compact Evolution CE-1 is a sublime loudspeaker, designed for both small and large listening spaces.

Listening: The TAD Compact Evolution CE-1 sounds fantastic right away. A very large and open soundstage and an absolutely beautiful and deep bass response are immediately apparent. You would swear that a much larger floor-standing speaker is playing. What really stands out is the high degree of openness and transparency. This is truly of a very high level and can rival major brands such as Magico, Avalon and Wilson. The distortion is extremely low, and it is clearly audible how the high build quality pays off in perfect reproduction. This set of TAD Compact Evolution CE-1 is only 1.5 years old, comes with the optional stands and is in like-new condition. They are also completely complete with all original packaging.
