Technical:The TAD Compact Reference One MK2 is built to reproduce music uncompromisingly at the highest level. The TAD CR1 MK2 belongs to TAD's reference series, which are only made with TAD's finest techniques and materials/components. The solid enclosure is manufactured to TAD's specifications by the Japanese furniture maker 'Tendo Mokko', built to resonate as little as possible for extremely stable playback. The most distinctive feature of the TAD CR1 MK2 is the coaxial midrange/tweeter driver, called the CST (Coherent Source Transducer). TAD has been making their speakers with coaxial drivers for midrange and treble for some time now, but this reference CST driver is the most optimal execution of this concept. The CST driver's frequency range extends from 250Hz to 100kHz, so the CST handles nearly the entire frequency range. What makes the CST driver so special is that both the tweeter and the midrange around it are made of Beryllium. A beryllium tweeter is no longer a new idea today, but a coaxial driver with a pure Beryllium midrange around it is very special.
