General : The Antelope Amari is a high-quality, versatile and compact device suitable for use as a D/A Converter with volume control, as a Headphone Amplifier, or as an A/D Converter. It is a device primarily used in the professional audio world for mastering, but it also works excellently for private users who appreciate good sound.

Technical :The Antelope Amari uses 8 CS43198 DAC chips for digital to analog conversion. These DAC chips accept PCM formats up to 24bit/384kHz. Antelope Audio is currently working on enabling DoP (DSD over PCM) on the Amari as well. The Antelope Amari is also designed to drive high-quality headphones, and with its ComboXLR outputs you can connect headphones with both XLR and 6.35mm Jack connectors. The 2 headphone outputs on the front each have their own volume knob and the output impedance can be adjusted to personal preference from -4.6 to 85.3 Ohm in 17 steps. The whole unit is housed in a nice, compact and cheerfully orange-colored enclosure and is powered externally by a DC adapter.

Listening : The Antelope Amari is a device with a neutral and honest sound. The playback is clean, tight and the soundstage is nicely laid out and tidy. Details are rendered easily in an unforced manner. The Antelope Amari sounds uncolored and adds no inherent 'flavor' to the sound. Yet the Antelope Amari does not sound analytical, the tone is simply musical but without frills. Ideal for people who don't like overly colored sound. Whether connected as a DAC with volume control to a power amplifier, or as a headphone amplifier, the Antelope Amari delivers beautiful sound with a well-organized soundstage that is rich in detail. This Antelope Amari is in excellent condition and comes with its original packaging and accessories.
