This is the Blumenhofer FS-1. An exceptionally well manufactured and sounding 2-way loudspeaker with very high efficiency. This is the most advanced MK1 version, with its beautifully crafted adjustment mechanism for the midrange/treble unit. This valuable adjustment mechanism is no longer found on the MK2 version. This unit is fully phase adjustable by moving it forwards and backwards with millimeter precision, and the vertical dispersion is also infinitely adjustable. Combined with the jumpers for -1dB and -2dB for the mid/treble unit, and the impedance correction for possible drive from weak tube amplifiers, this rather substantial loudspeaker is suitable for very many listening rooms and Hi-Fi systems. The Blumenhofer FS-1 is a 2-way system where everything below 850Hz is reproduced by a very large and expensive 38cm TAD woofer. This unit is truly extremely good and clean, and reproduces the bass and midrange very clearly. The entire midrange and treble is reproduced by a horn unit made by Blumenhofer. This horn unit is one of the few horn units on the market that does not sound like a horn unit. Free from annoying horn coloration. The driver that reproduces the entire midrange and treble is an expensive 75mm titanium driver. The cabinet itself is made of 25mm birchply and the front is even 50mm thick. The entire Blumenhofer FS-1 MK1 therefore weighs a generous 80 kg. Under the cabinet is a steel Aktyna frame with A.R.I.S. feet. Easy to place and if necessary to move. The connection itself is a biwire connection made of Gold Plated Tellurium Copper. Thanks to the high efficiency of 96dB in the treble and bass, you can drive the Blumenhofer with relatively light amplifiers. By all means connect a very good amplifier, as the resolution of this Blumenhofer FS-1 is extremely high. You truly hear everything. The Blumenhofer FS-1 has an enormous soundstage, which you would not expect from a semi-horn system. The bass is dry, clean and beautifully deep, and absolutely without spurious noise. No boxy bass ports here, but a naturalness that is rare. The midrange and treble is simply exceptionally transparent, crystal clear and dynamic. Dull recordings suddenly turn out not to be so dull after all. The Blumenhofer FS-1 simply sounds very musical and very homogeneous, but above all it is very pleasant to listen to. The Blumenhofer FS-1 MK1 makes music listening simply a celebration, and that is what it is all about.
