General: The Horning Aristoteles is the newest 2019 model of the High Efficiency series from Horning Hybrid in Denmark.

Technology: Like its big brothers the Eufrodite NWB and the Agalme NWB, the Aristoteles features the latest units on board. The woofers are now the even more powerful N52 Neodymium variants, with very high force and speed. There are now 2 of these super-strong woofers mounted per cabinet. Both woofers sit in the cabinet, in the bass horn, and on the outside there are 2 special dampers for the midrange. This new woofer section is completely unfiltered, so amplifier control is optimal, and bass response is unparalleled in speed and precision. The bass section culminates in a bass horn without damping. This was done intentionally for speed. The bass/midrange driver is a Horning Full Range unit with a very strong magnet, and this too is unfiltered. Only 2 small notch filters are built in. The moving mass of the midrange unit is very low, just 6 grams, and the cone is made of very light paper. According to many, paper is still the best material for making the ideal cone. Due to the absence of a filter, again. No phase shifts and very high efficiency. The tweeter is also a special paper cone version. Ultra light, and very fast. This is the only one filtered with a single component. Also remarkable is the very high efficiency of the system. While most speakers do not get further than 90dB efficiency, the Aristoteles NWB has an efficiency of 96dB, which is 4 times more effective, in other words, you need 4 times less power for it. The Horning Aristoteles NWB is therefore very suitable for small amplifiers, and beautiful tube amplifiers.

Listening: The first impression of this new Aristoteles MK2 is that it is a very clean and open sounding system, with a lot of refinement and very nice details. The bass is super clean and sounds deeper and fuller than the previous version. The Horning Aristoteles MK2 delivers a lightning-fast reproduction of reality. A large concert grand piano sounds like a large concert grand piano, not like an electronic version. The soundstage is also of a high level. The speaker disappears completely, so the music truly emanates from the Aristoteles NWB MK2. The Horning Aristoteles NWB MK2 is a relatively compact floor-standing loudspeaker that performs optimally in both small and large rooms. Placement is easy, and the Horning Aristoteles can stand flat against the wall, and even in the corner. Horning Hybrid recommends a position somewhere near the corners of the room. So lots of placement flexibility. This Horning Aristoteles NWB MK2 set is our demo model, so new and can be auditioned at Ohm-Audio BV.
