The Lector Audio VM-200 is a prime example of a perfectly executed stereo power amplifier. Powerful and highly musical. The natural sound of these power amplifiers stems from its exceptional design. The VM-200 has only 2 stages from input to output, which is unique. These stages, the driver stage and the power stage, each have their own power supplies including their own transformer. The driver stage itself consists of a PLC86 vacuum triode tube for driving the Mosfet power bank. This tube in turn drives the Mosfet bank. Up to 20 watts, the Lector VM-200 is fully configured in pure Class A. The real world power output is 2 x 100 watts at 8 ohms and 2 x 180 watts at 4 ohms. Enough to bring every speaker to musical performance. The entire signal path is DC coupled, which means a capacitor-free and thus very clean and age-resistant signal path. The transformer for the Mosfets is a specially wound 500 watt transformer, specifically designed for these amplifiers. The power bank has a storage capacity of 70,000 µF. The Lector VM-200 has a set of excellent WBT speaker terminals for spades and banana connectors. The Lector VM-200 is built with only the best components such as polypropylene capacitors, ring core transformers, metal film and tantalum resistors. The Lector VM-200, entirely built in Italy, is designed as a pure single-ended stereo amplifier. Balanced designs add nothing in their view, can only deliver more power, but the precision is often much less. And the musicality often too. In terms of sound, the VM-200 is a true Lector amplifier. The first thing that stands out is the enormous detail and corresponding musicality. The soundstage is lively, very pure and clean, and all musical instruments are completely separated from each other. The vocal reproduction is excellent, and the bass reproduction is beautiful. Very pure, deep, and with character. What also immediately stands out is the enormous spatial imaging. The Lector VM-200 is a typical amplifier that is not intrusive at all, but rather completely relaxing. This Lector VM-200 amplifier is a real asset to the crowded amplifier market, and for what they deliver, technically and musically, they are downright affordable.
