General : The Magico A3 is a floorstanding loudspeaker from the young A-series of the renowned American brand Magico.

Technology : The Magico A3 is a compact 3-way loudspeaker in a price range that is new for Magico. The goal was to have the Magico A3 cost between $10,000 and €13,000, but unfortunately. They did not manage it. Building such a high-quality loudspeaker to Magico's standard at that price proved impossible for Magico. The Magico A3 currently costs (after many price increases) €21.690,00 in the Netherlands. Magico A3 is a beautiful 3-way loudspeaker and relatively compact as well. The Magico A3 is made entirely of aluminum. The units are Magico's own units. First of all the tweeter. That is a very fine Beryllium tweeter, which was also used in the S1 mk1 and S3 mk1. An excellent tweeter, which works without the diamond coating of the newer S1 MK2 and S3 MK2/MK3. The midrange driver is a 6" Nanotec Graphene unit. The bass woofers are also Nanotec Graphene units. The Nanotec drivers are found in all Magico models. The crossover uses only top-quality components from, among others, Mundorf from Germany. The Magico A3 has a closed enclosure and therefore sounds tight and controlled, but they do require adequate amplification. The Magico A3 is an incredibly beautifully built loudspeaker and sonically it is a true Magico.

Listening (experience from our previous A3's) : The Magico A3 has just started playing in our listening room Studio 2, and it soon becomes clear that this is a very special loudspeaker. The comparison with the S1 MK2 immediately comes to mind. After all, it is approximately the same size, but a 2-way, and the A3 is a 3-way loudspeaker. As expected, it quickly becomes clear that both loudspeakers are cut from the same cloth (or rather, aluminum). Both loudspeakers are absolutely top-notch. The Magico A3 indeed sounds like a true 3-way loudspeaker of high quality. The Magico A3 sounds tight, smooth, very differentiated, and as if carved from one piece. The image is very open and a large 3D bubble unfolds. The Magico A3 can also play quite loud. The Magico S1 MK2 is the absolute master when it comes to honesty, and it also sounds more mercilessly tight and open, while the Magico A3 is somewhat easier on the ear and can handle virtually all types of music where the S1 MK2 is more specialized. The Magico A3 has an enormously deep and powerful bass which, because the cabinet is closed, is nice and tight and controlled.
