What makes this McIntosh MC-1000 special is that it features an output transformer. You normally only see this in tube amplifiers. Transistor amplifiers never have them, except for McIntosh. The McIntosh MC-1000 is fully balanced from input to output, making it a true balanced amplifier and sounds optimal when connected balanced. Separate speaker outputs are available for 2 ohm, 4 ohm, and 8 ohm, so you can always drive your speakers optimally. Sonically, the McIntosh MC-1000 stands out for its stability in reproduction. All details emerge beautifully without disturbance. The tonal sound balance is nicely analog. No hardness or harshness at all, but also not exaggerated on the warm side. We have tested these amplifiers on old and new Magicos, Avalons, Magnepans, and many others, and the result is always excellent. These could well be your last power amplifiers.
