Technology : The McIntosh MCT-500 is a reliable and beautifully finished CD/SACD transport. The finish is recognizable as you would expect from McIntosh, with a black glass plate on the front, an illuminated green logo, and a light blue display. Perfect in combination with any other McIntosh device. Of course, the McIntosh MCT-500 also sounds excellent as a transport unit in combination with other brands. For playing CDs, 4 different digital outputs can be used. For playing SACDs, however, the MCT output must be used, which can only be used in combination with a McIntosh DAC with MCT input. This input is also found on integrated amplifiers with a DA1 or DA2 module. Furthermore, the McIntosh MCT-500 can also play self-burned CDs without any problems, and you will also find a USB input on the front, allowing you to play music from a USB stick up to 24bit/192kHz.

The transport mechanism in the McIntosh MCT-500 itself is of very high quality. The CD tray is made of cast aluminum. A very advanced digital servo ensures that the CD/SACD is read in a fast, quiet, and precise manner. All data from the CD/SACD is read at double speed compared to the standard reading speed, which provides better error correction processing and disc tracking.
