RAM Acoustics from England is handcrafted by Falcon Acoustics, the manufacturer of the famous and only genuine 15 ohm LS 3/5A mini-monitors. What makes a High End product truly High End? First of all, of course, the sound quality, but does this come about by chance, or has it been thoroughly thought through? In the case of the RAM Acoustics Studio 10, it is definitely the attention to detail. For instance, the cabinet is very heavy and resonance-free. Tap it and you hear nothing. The exterior is wrapped in leather for extra damping. The fact that it looks very beautiful is nice, but in this case it is the sound quality that matters. The woofer is a Falcon/RAM proprietary development. A long-throw woofer/midrange with a heavy magnet, and this woofer cannot oscillate. A long lifespan is guaranteed as well as pure and deep bass reproduction. The tweeter is a Scan Speak unit with custom voice coils wound and mounted by RAM Acoustics themselves. These voice coils are manufactured with extreme precision, without the usual surround. The magnet gap is thus narrower, which in turn provides a more precise and more linear magnetic field. The crossover is symmetrically designed and contains only top-quality components. The side panels are double-layered, and the wooden panel is replaceable for aesthetic purposes. You can choose from various wood types and also piano black lacquer. The speaker connections are a Falcon proprietary development. Rhodium connectors, solid, and with a spade ring, so that tight fastening does not damage the spade.

Listening : The RAM Acoustics Studio 10 sounds truly very balanced. Definitely a speaker for the long term. The Studio 10 sounds extremely pure, round, friendly and musical. They can also play quite loud. A powerful amplifier is required though as the efficiency is modest. From this perspective and when listened to, we regard the RAM Studio 10 as somewhat more expensive than the Falcon LS 3/5A. To our surprise, the RAM Acoustics Studio 10 costs only € 1.650,00 euro including VAT per pair. For a true compact High End speaker of this quality, this is remarkably affordable.
