Antipodes DX3
The Antipodes DX3 is the new ultimate music streamer for Ultra High End Audio installations. The DX3 features a dual Discreet regulated linear power supply, the latest High Power V4 Mainboard, and has only a super stable digital USB Audio output available. The Antipodes DX3 is therefore only suitable for USB DACs. However, the Antipodes DX3 has an extra pure network connection for connecting your external server. The Antipodes DX3 thus has a built-in CD ripper, and pre-installed storage for your music. The heavy billet aluminium enclosure is identical to that of the DX2, except for the rear panel. The DX2 has more digital outputs. The DX3 is thus a Server, Ripper and Player in 1. Connect the Antipodes DX3 to your USB DA Converter and you immediately benefit from the best sounding, most powerful and most complete Audio Streaming solution on the market.
The Antipodes DX3 is equipped with the new high power V4X mainboard for the highest computing power and speed with Roon. In the latest version, Roon offers many possibilities to adjust the sound. A complete DSP is at your disposal. Also, a very large music collection can require a lot of computing power. More computing power in itself is not a problem, but it must not affect the extremely pure data stream with bits that contain your music. The Antipodes DX3 has an industrial mainboard developed together with Asus. This type of mainboard has a very long production life span of 28 months, which has major advantages for the software development of the Antipodes DX Series and Core series. The Antipodes DX3 therefore has an even more powerful Mainboard built in than the DX2, but the DX3 has no SPDIF or AES/EBU outputs. If you want to use these outputs, you should choose the DX2.
The Antipodes DX3 can play music from directly connected external storage sources, and from any internal storage present. The internal storage capacity ranges from 1Tb (3000 CDs) to 8Tb (24,000 CDs) and is exclusively SSD. We recommend the most direct connection with your DA Converter. The best way is to play from internal SSD storage, via USB Audio to your USB DAC, it cannot sound and function any better.
The Antipodes DX3 has 2 pure audio outputs. USB Audio out to connect the DX3 directly to your USB DAC, and an additional Ethernet connection. If desired, you can also connect the DX3 via the additional Ethernet connection for your external server. Preferably connect the server directly to the DX3, without the interference of disruptive Routers and Switches. Pure audio, as it is meant to be. The USB output is recommended by Ohm-Audio BV because it passes all file formats directly through without conversion. DSD files are also passed through directly, provided your DA Converter can handle that. If it cannot, the Antipodes DX3 can downsample the signals to the maximum resolution of your DA Converter.
You connect the Antipodes DX3 to your USB DAC and use the internal or external UTP music storage
All Antipodes units are 100% built to work optimally with Roon but also with other protocols such as Squeezebox server. Roon consists of 3 parts, namely Roon Server, Roon Ready and Roon Control. Roon server manages your music library in the most logical and intelligent way you can imagine. Roon server is also the only component that needs to be paid for. The software is not cheap, but absolutely worth every penny. Roon Ready is the player (RAAT Roon Advanced Audio Transport), the solution that plays the music to your system. Roon Control is the remote control to operate the player. Roon Control works with just about any brand of smartphone, iPads, PCs, laptops, Macbooks etc. Once you get used to Roon, you won't want anything else to manage your music library and play music.
Streaming services
The first Antipodes Server/players played music from built-in storage, or from an external NAS, and through Roon also the streaming service of Tidal. From early 2019, Roon version 1.6 is also ready to play files from Qobuz. Many music lovers have preferred Qobuz over Tidal because there is more jazz music and classical music available on Qobuz. Tidal has focused on MQA files, while Qobuz offers the ability to stream High Resolution files up to 24 bit 192KHz.
Any way you look at it, the DX series from Antipodes is the best sounding server on the market. You will be amazed at how much new information you hear. Everything sounds crystal clear and very analogue, a rare combination. The special dual discreet regulated power supply does its job. The background is very quiet, and jet black. We have never heard it like this before. Rhythmically, everything is spot on. Every Antipodes Streamer we know and have compared with competitors sounds better, but the DX2 and DX3 take the crown. Ohm-Audio bv has all models in stock and ready for comparison.
