The Antipodes EX is a fully integrated Medium Power Pure Audio streamer with Roon server and player software installed, and built-in discrete ODAPS power supply and DA Converter.

All Antipodes units play Roon MQA files. Roon converts the MQA files to High Resolution PCM. Also the MQA files from Tidal. Qobuz even has a High Resolution subscription. This way you can stream High Resolution files in the highest quality.

Music Storage : Data storage for music : In this EX Black, 2 SSD storage disks of up to 8Tb can be installed. This is sufficient for approximately 12,000 CDs

Ohm-Audio BV orders the SSD memory and charges this to you on a 1:1 basis, or you can purchase and install and configure it yourself.

Antipodes EX Black

General : The new Antipodes EX is the evolution of the Antipodes Edge and Core units. However, the Antipodes EX is built with the same specifications as the Antipodes DX3 Reference server and in a completely newly developed housing. The Antipodes EX is the second Antipodes unit with X level performance. The Antipodes EX provides the same V4X level circuit for signal processing as the DX3. The EX features the new Discrete regulated ODAPS2 power supply, which is no longer external. The power supply is now internal, which is much more convenient in terms of connections.

Technology : The Antipodes EX is built in a very heavy and stable CNC-milled solid aluminum housing. An Antipodes proprietary development. The DR (Discretely regulated) Odaps 2 power supply is now built-in. The EX housing consists of 4 separate chambers. The wiring, power supply, switch and SSD disks are now completely separated. The Odaps 2 power supply used is being applied in the EX for the first time. The Odaps 2 power supply reduces high-frequency interference signals to a minimum, and the speed of power supply is optimal. Passive filters are not used because they limit power supply speed. This again comes at the expense of sound quality. The EX is a fantastic server and renderer in one. Another option is to use the EX only as a Renderer, and the Antipodes CX as a server. Both units are then connected directly to each other by means of a high-quality UTP connection. The CX then does the server work, and the EX the rendering work as a player. Together this delivers a completely new dimension in the field of digital audio. This combination indeed sounds noticeably better than the fantastic DX2 and DX3 streamers from Antipodes, and that says a lot, because this is so far the best sounding audio streamer we know.

New levels of performance : the Antipodes EX + CX

Ripper : The Antipodes EX does not have a built-in CD Ripper. There are many USB ripping stations on the market. However, these are often very unstable and inaccurate. Also, the slot-in units cannot handle treated CDs. These get stuck in the unit. Antipodes has developed the P1 for this purpose. A top quality CD Drive, in a heavy stable metal housing. The Antipodes P1 has exactly the same format as the EX and CX and fits perfectly underneath. Place, connect to the non-audio USB input, and the ripping is completely automatic. Insert CD and the Antipodes EX does the rest.

Music Storage : The Antipodes EX is standard supplied with only an internal SSD for the system software. The storage disks for music, or SSD disks, are placed and configured by Ohm-Audio BV. Optionally, you can also do this yourself and configure it easily.

Outputs : The Antipodes EX has 3 audio outputs. First of all, there is the most commonly used USB Pure Audio output. An optimized output with its own regulated power supply. Very important because the USB output of the EX powers the USB input of your DAC. In addition, the EX has an analog L + R audio output. You can connect the EX directly to your amplifier with 2 good RCA cables. As a third there is a special UTP output, which is able to deliver the data stream directly to a Renderer. Of course, when using the USB output with a good USB DA Converter, or UTP output to a separate Player, you get the best sound quality. In this case, the Antipodes EX is not the limiting factor but the DA Converter is. We recommend using a high-quality DA Converter to enjoy the best sound quality. The reproduction of the built-in analog outputs is limited to PCM and 24 bit / 192 KHz and of good quality, but as said, the EX is meant to be used with a top-class DA Converter with USB or an external UTP Player.

Audio Formats : The Antipodes EX plays all existing music formats, such as PCM, DSD and MQA decoding.

MQA files are converted by ROON into Studio Formats. So playing 44/16 MQA means, for example, delivering 96/24 to your DAC. This is extra nice because Tidal now also supplies many MQA files, and they actually sound better than compressed FLAC files. Qobuz files can even be streamed in High Resolution.

Server Software : The Antipodes EX comes with various software apps. Of course, the most well-known and best functioning and sounding server software is ROON. But other types of server software and program tools are also available. See the specifications for the complete list of software.

Streaming services : The first Antipodes Server/players played music from the built-in storage, or from an external NAS, and through Roon also the streaming service of Tidal. Many music lovers preferred Qobuz over Tidal because there is more jazz music and classical music to be found on Qobuz. Tidal has focused on MQA files, and Qobuz offers the ability to stream High Resolution files up to 24 bit 192KHz.
