The Double Inverted Helix Coil, or abbreviated 'DIHC', is a technique found in many cables. DIHC refers to a special way in which the conductors are wound. The more conductors wound according to the DIHC principle, the lower the noise floor and the less inductance in the conductors. Inductance acts as a kind of resistance in the signal path, it hinders the signal from going from point A to point B. More inductance in the signal takes the 'speed' out of the music, it causes a lifeless and compressed sound without 3D experience which is confusing. Noise, on the other hand, creates pressure on your ears, harshness and the feeling that there is a little curtain in front of the speakers. Less noise means more freedom, transparency, rhythm and clarity.
Ansuz Acoustics from Denmark winds their cables in a special way. To wind the cables in this way, designer Michael Børresen together with his 80+ year old father designed and built a machine from scratch. This makes the Ansuz cables unique, because there is no other manufacturer in the world that has this machine.
Most Ansuz cables (from the X-TC3 models and higher) have multiple conductors. The main conductor is a silver-plated 1.0mm² conductor which is wound in a very stiff Teflon shield with tinned copper mesh around it. Sometimes multiple of these are used, and in the case of the flagship D-TC3 Gold Signature series, these conductors are also gold-plated. The reason Ansuz uses such stiffly insulated conductors is because of mechanical stability and resonance behavior. Soft PVC shielding holds vibrations much longer inside the conductors, which causes a scattered sound. In principle, it is also always advisable to place your cables on cable lifters or cable decouplers, but that's beside the point. Returning to the conductors, from the X-TC3 series and higher, in addition to the stiff 1.0mm² solid core conductors, multiple 0.3mm² conductors are also used which are wound in a double helix pattern. One group of cables is wound in one direction in a double helix pattern, and another group is wound in exactly the opposite direction. By winding the conductors around the main conductors in this way, the noise floor is lowered and the inductance in the signal is reduced. The more of these 0.3mm² conductors are used, the greater the effect.
