Lumin U1 Mini

General

Lumin manufactures exceptionally well-built, great-sounding and fully functional music streamers. Lumin Streamers stream all your favorite music directly, even straight from the source. Lumin streamers offer full support for TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify and are also Airplay compatible. Lumin devices do not require a server to function; they operate directly. Lumin streamers are ROON compatible. You cannot control them with ROON, but you can use them as a ROON player. If you have an Antipodes Roon Streamer/Player, you can use the Lumin devices as a player in another zone in your home. Or, you can use the Antipodes unit as a server, and then as a player in your setup—for example, go wild and use the Lumin X1 as a player. Plenty of choices.

Lumin manufactures 2 types of streamers. Streamers with built-in DA Converter and Streamers with digital outputs only. A Lumin with a built-in DA converter can be connected directly to your amplifier via analog interconnects. This makes your Hi-Fi setup somewhat simpler. Of course, the quality of the built-in DAC plays a major role in the ultimate sound quality. For example, the current Lumin D2 is an excellent streamer at a very attractive price. The Lumin T2 takes things a step further in quality, but is also twice as expensive. The Lumin X1 is Lumin's absolute flagship model but is also in the €10,000.00 plus category. High End price, but also High End sound quality. The Lumin Transports are the U1 and U1 Mini. You connect these units digitally to your own DA Converter, or amplifier with built-in DA Converter.

Power Supplies

Large differences in the sound quality of Hi-Fi equipment are caused by the power supplies used. Of course, every Lumin music streamer is built with a solid power supply, but...in some cases it can be better. The power supplies used are then replaced with hand-built power supplies from S Booster. The difference in sound quality is considerable, and at minimal cost. Power supplies are available for the Lumin U1 Mini and Lumin D2 streamers. Upgrade power supplies are also available for older Lumin streamers, the A1, T1 and S1.
