We at Ohm-Audio BV are Audiophiles. What is an Audiophile actually. Is it a disease? A condition? A lifestyle? Wikipedia thinks the following about it:
Audiophile is a term for someone who is very driven to perfect the reproduction of recorded sound. Although it is often not intended, this can go so far that it becomes an obsession.
Mmm. Well. That's correct and we can ensure that it doesn't become an obsession. To do this, we look at it from a technical perspective and keep in mind that the price-quality ratio of a set remains optimal. Of course, a, say, MIT Oracle MA-X SHD speaker cable of €55,000.00 in a set of €10,000.00 sounds better than the usually used cable, but we would not recommend that. There are many better ways to improve the quality of an audio installation.
Here are a number of steps that we believe are the way to build and optimize a set.
First of all the power. Install an Audiophile switch (pure power transmission, without crackling and distortion) in the distribution board. Ensure a direct connection with a preferably shielded cable (No loss en route and no interference from radiation or emissions) to your set and have it connected to an Audiophile outlet (Strong copper and silver-plated terminals for a tight connection with the plug).
OK. The power coming into your home is now transported as purely as possible and with as little loss as possible to a location close to your set. Now it is unlikely that you use only 1 component, so there must be a distribution to multiple outlets. It is also important that the power is cleaned of all kinds of high-frequency and sometimes also DC components (disturbances). These disturbances cause your equipment to react somewhat nervously. The music that then flows from your speakers sounds somewhat restless, or sometimes considerably so. Not only does the music sound restless, but it makes you restless too. So there must be a filter specifically tuned to your audio installation.
So choose a power strip, power filter or power conditioner for the distribution of power.
So there is now a power filter / power strip ready for your equipment with 4, 6 or 12 connections for your set. This entire power setup is the foundation of your set, and absolutely important.
The component selection. We recommend starting by choosing the speakers. The speaker is a very determining component for both the looks and the sound. Put 10 different speakers next to each other and they will all sound very different. This is different with the other components of your set. The differences of other components are also very important, but the differences are smaller than those with the speakers.
You now have speakers that you like to look at and that meet your sound requirements. Now choose the amplifier for this. The amplifier ensures that the speaker does what it can do. A wrong match means that the speakers don't sound as good as they can.
Now choose the source. Nowadays this is usually a streamer and a D/A converter. Plenty of choice.
The entire set must now be wired. First think of the right power cords for the devices. An amplifier needs a different power cord than, for example, a streamer. Then come the interlinks, the cables used between the components. here too, the most expensive is not the best, but the most optimal combination is the best.
You now have your set ready. Optimally wired. The power is stable, pure and the distortions are eliminated. The speakers are in the right place, in the living room or music room. Usually the acoustics in the average room are fine because of the presence of sofas, chairs, bookshelves, plants and so on. If you suffer from reverberation, we recommend having a specialized company measure the acoustics so they can give advice on improving the acoustics.

Music is an invisible language. And that's right. It is a very complex but at the same time also simple language with enormous impact. You can't explain music rationally. Try to explain to someone that they should like Jazz because it's so skillfully played. Or so creative. Or Classical. Or Pop. You have to feel it. If you don't feel it, then that's not your music. For us, music is one of the higher forms of art. Improvised live music most of all. A painter can calmly look at his painting, make some adjustments, and repaint if necessary. A live musician can't do that. They work live, here and now. It has to happen now, and if you make a mistake, that's what it is.
