Borresen Acoustics A1, 2-Way Standmount Speakers including Stands, New at Ohm-Audio BV
New price: € 10,000.00 per set

--- Ohm-Audio B.V. is the official importer of Audio Group Denmark for the BeNeLux ---

EN.
General:
The Borresen A1 is the latest standmount speaker from Audio Group Denmark, it is the model between the Borresen X1 and the Borresen C1. The Borresen A1 is an extremely high-quality, musical and well-finished speaker in its price range.

Stands: The Borresen A1 is a 2-way standmount speaker. The very solid stands are included and are therefore part of the price. With these stands you also get 6 pieces of Axxess Noir isolators worth € 825. These Axxess Noir isolators are placed between the top plate of the stand and the bottom of the A1 speaker. This decouples the speaker from the stand, which benefits the sound. The isolators also ensure that the speaker cannot slide off the stand. It is still recommended to also place Axxess Noir or Ansuz Darkz isolators under the feet of the stands for best results, but you are not obligated to do so as the stands can also simply stand on the floor.

Cabinet: The design of the Borresen A-series is based on the earlier and much more expensive 0-series. This also means that the Borresen A-series, unlike the other series from Borresen Acoustics, is finished in wood. The choice is between beautiful and homely walnut wood veneer, or neutral and elegant Black Ash black wood veneer. However, the cabinet of the A-series is considerably heavier than the cabinet of the 0-series because the thickness of the HDF cabinet has been made much thicker, which provides an even more stable and tight reproduction. The Borresen A1 features a unique bass reflex system, these are not tuned to a specific frequency and are purely present for controlling and dispensing the air pressure inside the cabinet. The in-house made ribbon tweeter also has its own compartment in the cabinet which is vented via a port, allowing the tweeter to see a free space which provides treble reproduction comparable to that of a planar magnetostatic or electrostatic speaker. Some distance from the rear wall is desirable, although the Borresen A1 can be placed much closer to the wall than you might expect.

Drivers: The driver and tweeter are manufactured in-house by Børresen Acoustics. The woofer is referred to by the manufacturer as the Borresen DCC5s driver. The membrane of the DCC5s mid/bass woofer consists of 2 layers of spread tow carbon with a layer of aramide in honeycomb design sandwiched between them, which are pressed together rigidly. This membrane is reinforced with a small amount of epoxy in the carbon that also holds the layers together. The DCC5s driver membrane is extremely light and weighs less than 6 grams; moreover, it is also extremely stiff, making it an exceptionally distortion-free driver. This allows the music signal to be reproduced correctly and coherently without distortion. The voice coil of the DCC5s driver is made of titanium instead of aluminum for reduced resistance in the magnetic system. Copper pole rings are also used in the magnetic system for less inductance. This allows the drivers, which are already extremely light, to move very freely without resistance inside the magnetic system. The combination of materials and techniques results in an extremely stable driver with enormous power and control. The tweeter is also made in-house; it is a ribbon tweeter with a moving mass of 0.01(!) gram. This tweeter is extremely stable and linear in its reproduction and distorts almost not at all.

Listening: The Borresen A1 sets new standards in its price class. The sound is what we are accustomed to from Borresen: neutral, spatial, clean, detailed and free from listening fatigue. Comparing the A1 to the already excellent and more affordable X1, you hear clearly and immediately improvement in every aspect. The Borresen A1 has a more extensive and musical bass reproduction with more definition. The midrange of the Borresen A1 is powerful yet clean and realistic. Once properly positioned in the room, the speakers also completely disappear when you close your eyes. The treble, like all Borresen speakers, is extremely refined and detailed but without hardness or sharpness. The Borresen A1 is a clear step forward compared to the Borresen X1, and for those who want to take another step beyond the A1, the Borresen C1 is within reach. Each step up at Borresen Acoustics provides a character that remains largely the same, but simply more extensive, more detailed and more defined. The Borresen A1 is a perfect sweet spot between the X1 and the C1 and, thanks to its beautiful appearance and wood finishes and excellent price-to-quality ratio, we expect the Borresen A1 to be a very interesting speaker for many people and rooms.

The Borresen A1 is available in walnut veneer or black ash wood veneer. Only available as a set including stands and Axxess Noir decoupling devices for the stands. We have the Borresen A1 as a standard demo ready in stock; they can be auditioned by appointment.
