General: The DA-2 is McIntosh's latest DAC module. The DA-2 comes standard in McIntosh's newest models. Previous models with a DA-1 module can be upgraded to the DA-2. The following models are suitable for an upgrade: MA9000, MA8900, MA7200, MA5300, MAC7200, and C49. Compared to the DA-1 module, the new DA-2 module features HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). This offers the advantage over Toslink that volume can be controlled with the TV remote and provides improved lip-sync functionality. The USB input has also been upgraded and is now capable of converting files up to DSD512. Please note that to maintain the factory warranty, the DA-2 upgrade must be installed by an authorized McIntosh dealer.
