General: The AudioQuest CAT700 Forest is an ethernet cable on a spool that is cut to length. This cable is an ideal and affordable upgrade compared to a standard CAT7 cable. The AudioQuest CAT700 Forest is ideal for use as a cable from the router in the meter cabinet towards the switch or streamer at your audio system. The AudioQuest CAT700 Forest fits through standard conduits and can also be placed in crawl spaces. Additionally, the AudioQuest CAT700 Forest can be used as an ethernet cable between switch and streamer with shorter lengths.

Technology: What makes the AudioQuest CAT700 Forest better than standard ethernet cables is related to a few factors. First, the shielding; the outer jacket is made of a specifically selected type of PVC, waterproof, and because of this the CAT700 can also be placed in crawl spaces. The shielding of the conductors themselves is a Hard-Cell Foam insulation, which is a special type of foam that is injected with nitrogen. The Hard-Cell Foam insulation ensures that no interference is picked up by the conductors, which in turn reduces distortion. The 8 conductors are each packed in pairs in a metal foil, with a metal braid around it. This braid can be attached to the CAT7 connector at the source end to actively connect the shielding with the connector, which makes the shielding even more effective. The conductors are solid-core conductors, made of very pure 0.5% silver-plated LGC copper.

Sound characteristics: Compared to a cheaper standard ethernet cable, the AudioQuest CAT700 Forest delivers clearly better performance. The sound is cleaner, more detailed, and less muddy. Bass is tighter and the soundstage is better defined.

The AudioQuest CAT700 Forest is in stock at Ohm-Audio B.V. from the spool and can be cut to length. For the connectors, we recommend the Telegärtner connectors which can be easily assembled yourself without special tools (we can send you instructions with photos). If needed, we can also assemble AudioQuest's smaller and more affordable connectors. If you wish to assemble them yourself, you will need a special AudioQuest tool for this.
