General: The Magnepan 20.7 is the largest magnetostatic speaker from Magnepan.

Technology: It is a 3-way panel with push-pull membranes, meaning magnets on both sides. This results in completely linear diaphragm reproduction. The 150cm long ribbon tweeter is unique in its class and one of the best units in the world for reproducing high tones. Like all other Magnepans, the Magnepan 20.7 is a dipole loudspeaker, which means it radiates both forward and backward. Some distance from the rear wall is therefore a must. The low-frequency radiation pattern is 8-lobed, which has the advantage that you can direct the bass energy. This is not possible with a conventional loudspeaker.

Sound: The Magnepan 20.7 is the largest model from Magnepan (with one panel per side), and that is also what you hear when comparing the 20.7 to the smaller Magnepan models. The bass reproduction is even deeper, more powerful and more controlled. Not only that, the bass is also simply more musical, because the size of the diaphragm puts less stress on it when playing low tones. Additionally, the midrange and high-frequency range are even cleaner and better articulated thanks to the push-pull magnets. Due to the size of the Magnepan 20.7, the spatial imaging and 3D soundstage are also significantly larger. Listening to the Magnepan 20.7 is an impressive experience that you won't easily forget. You won't hear such clean, distortion-free and airy sound from a conventional loudspeaker system.
