General: The Lector VFI-700 is the flagship model of the integrated amplifiers from Lector Audio in Italy. Lector Audio amplifiers are handmade in Italy.

Technology: The Lector VFI-700 is a hybrid amplifier. The preamp stage is handled by 2 triode ECC 82/12AU7 tubes and the power amp stage is handled by special Mosfet transistors called Hexfets. The Lector VFI-700 also features a very high-quality tube phono preamplifier powered by 2 ECC 81/12AT7 tubes. The entire circuit for both tube preamplifiers uses a Zero Feedback Design, which preserves the lively and natural sound. This is how Lector Audio prefers to do it: no technical gimmicks, balance controls or equalizers and feedback, but instead a signal path as direct as possible for the most musical sound. The Hexfets in the power amp have a minimal amount of feedback in the signal. Throughout the entire signal path, there are only 3 polypropylene capacitors. The external power supply is very stable and ensures that there is no negative influence from the power supply on the rest of the circuit and vice versa. The power supply circuit in the amplifier is very advanced and consists of 4 output zones which separate the power signal for the various stages in the amplifier. All components used are of very high quality and the Lector VFI-700 is, like all other equipment from Lector Audio, made with an eye and ear directed toward the most musical sound.

Sound: Listening to the Lector VFI-700 is pure pleasure. The soundstage is spacious, deep and lively. Background details are very well audible without sounding intrusive. The bass goes very deep and is very controlled and balanced and the voices carry a lot of weight, which provides an enormously pleasant and engaging reproduction. Ultimately, this is all very nice if you pay attention to these kinds of details, but the beauty of the Lector VFI-700 is that you don't have to concern yourself with this at all. This amplifier is so musical that you listen to music instead of sounds and tones. And that provides days, evenings, weeks, months and even years filled with listening pleasure.
