General: The McIntosh MA352 is a 2 x 200 Watt integrated hybrid amplifier with an excellent Phono input for MM cartridges. MC cartridges via a step-up transformer. Additionally, a high-quality headphone amplifier is built in.

Technical Details: The McIntosh MA352 is a very stable and solidly built amplifier with distinctive technologies. The McIntosh MA352 offers 3 pairs of analog RCA inputs and 2 pairs of balanced analog XLR inputs, and also has a phono input for MM cartridges. There is also a Pre Output on the MA352 for connecting a subwoofer, active speakers, or possibly a second power amplifier. On the front of the amplifier you'll find 5 buttons for tone control, allowing you to adjust the sound completely to your personal preference and/or room. The fact that the McIntosh MA352 barely gets warm is due to the McIntosh's own specially designed cooling fins on the sides of the amplifier. For protection, the McIntosh MA352 features 'Power Guard' which prevents the amplifier from clipping, so your speakers are safe. In case of overvoltage or short circuit, the McIntosh MA352 has a fuseless protection built in, called 'Sentry Monitor'. By not using fuses, the power flow is barely restricted, which benefits the sound quality.

Appearance: A McIntosh device can almost always be recognized from a kilometer away, and the same goes for the McIntosh MA352. The MA352 features the characteristic glass panel on the front where the McIntosh logo illuminates in green and where there are 2 analog meters with an illuminated blue background. Below that you'll find an LED display showing the volume and input selection, and you can also open the menu with it. For those who don't like illuminated equipment, the lights behind the analog meters can be turned off and the intensity of the LED screen can easily be dimmed or made brighter. In front of the glass panel you'll find a chrome plate with the 12AX7A tubes, which come with a nice individual protective cage with the McIntosh logo on it. The 12AX7A tubes have LED lights at the tube bases. These illuminate orange during the warm-up of the tubes, and light green when the MA352 is ready to use. These LED lights can also be easily turned on or off. And right at the front you'll find 2 large shiny knobs for volume control and operation of the menu and input selection. Between the 2 large shiny knobs you'll find 5 smaller but similar shiny knobs for tone control. The McIntosh MA352 is very solidly built and can drive virtually any speaker on the market. The dimensions are 44.5cm (W) x 25.1cm (H) x 44.3cm (D), the MA352 weighs 30kg.

Sound: The McIntosh MA352 has the typical McIntosh character. This means the MA352 sounds beautifully full, detailed and rich. The difference with older McIntosh equipment lies more in the detail and tangibility of the soundstage. The McIntosh MA352 will never give too much or too little of anything. The sound is very controlled and balanced, and even at higher volumes with heavier music, the McIntosh MA352 maintains its grip and the sound remains comfortable so you don't have to rush to the volume control to turn it down. This means that after hours, days, weeks, months or years you can still enjoy the McIntosh MA352. Overall there is a pleasant tube sound due to the tube preamp stage, which provides more emotion and involvement with the music. Although the McIntosh MA352 sounds quiet and refined, it does not sound boring or too tame. Because of this very refined character, the McIntosh MA352 is suitable for virtually every type of music at virtually any volume on virtually any type of speaker.
