General: The M18 is the newest stereo power amplifier from Bricasti Design from America. It is a more compact and affordable design based on the Bricasti M25.

Technology: The design of the Bricasti M18 is fully dual mono, so the right and left channels each have their own complete amplifier with their own separate power supply. That's why this relatively compact amplifier weighs well over 40(!) kg, it contains two power supplies with enormous ring core transformers and the housing is made of solid CNC-milled aluminum. This is therefore a fully balanced design and you will find only 1 set of analog inputs in the form of XLR inputs on the Bricasti M18. On paper, the power of 60 watts per channel at 8 ohms may not seem like much, but the Bricasti M18 is extremely stable down to 2 ohms. Even though the wattage may not be extremely high, the Bricasti M18 can deliver current incredibly well and stably, which allows it to easily drive even difficult-to-drive speakers. The Bricasti M18 also has extremely low harmonic distortion; the internal design of the M18 is made for this, with a low noise floor and low distortion for optimal, stable and clean reproduction. The housing of the Bricasti M18 is made of thick CNC-milled brushed aluminum panels. On the sides, cooling fins are milled into the housing itself, and on the inside the transistors are mounted against these sides, which allows the heat to be dissipated efficiently. The housing itself stands on feet in which Stillpoints decouplers are integrated for effective isolation.

Listening: The Bricasti M18 sounds as you would expect from a Bricasti Design amplifier: powerful, neutral, spatial and refined. The dynamics and rhythmic reproduction are excellent. The Bricasti M18 does not put on any unnecessary spectacle; it is a straightforward and honest amplifier both in construction and in sound. When rest and refinement are needed, the Bricasti M18 delivers this, and when volume and dynamics are required, the Bricasti M18 delivers that too. This amplifier is simply extremely musical and versatile. The Bricasti M18 also works well with many speakers due to its neutral character; a mismatch between Bricasti amplifiers and speakers is rare. You can clearly hear the influence of the larger brother of the M18, the Bricasti M25, in this amplifier. All in all, the Bricasti M18 is a very high-quality, durable and musical high-end amplifier with excellent value for money for what you get in return.
