General: The Trenner & Friedl Pharoah MK2 is a distinctive and exclusive loudspeaker from Austria. The speakers from T&F are fully handmade. The T&F Pharoah MK2 has a high efficiency of 92dB and a nominal impedance of 8 Ohm, which makes the T&F Pharoah MK2 very suitable to be driven by tube amplifiers or compact class A amplifiers. However, we have also achieved good results with various other amplifiers such as class D amplifiers or efficient class A/B amplifiers with more power.

Only high-quality components are used in the T&F Pharoah MK2. For example, you will find silver-in-oil capacitors from Mundorf, as well as copper foil coils from Mundorf and Mundorf MOX resistors. The internal wiring is from Cardas Audio. All of this ensures a free and pure signal flow with minimal inductance and distortion. The T&F Pharoah MK2 is a 2-way floorstanding loudspeaker with a coaxial driver. The tweeter is therefore placed in the center of the mid/bass woofer for optimal timing. The tweeter is a titanium tweeter modified by Trenner & Friedl and driven by a neodymium magnet. The mid/woofer is an 8” SEAS driver modified by T&F, with a paper diaphragm coated with six layers of oil, which provides reinforcement, durability and a more natural sound. The Trenner & Friedl Pharoah MK2 is of extremely high build quality, so not only the high-quality components and drivers used, but also the sturdy, handmade cabinet, result in a final product that simply holds up from every angle.

Listening: The Trenner & Friedl Pharoah MK2 have a very lively and organic character. You can play many types of music on them, from classical to pop to electronic. If we had to name one genre that excels, we would say that acoustic live music sounds most convincing. Rhythmic, natural and dynamic. But organ music or electronic music with deep, full bass reproduction also comes across very convincingly from the T&F Pharoah MK2. These speakers have no bass reflex system, but the Pharoah MK2 is open at the bottom, and the bass from the cabinet is radiated through two large openings. These are not blowing and resonating bass pipes, and thanks to this design the low end goes very deep, 35 Hz according to Trenner & Friedl, and the Pharoah MK2 can also be placed close to a rear wall. You can get good results with many amplifiers on the T&F Pharoah MK2, but enthusiasts will of course enjoy these speakers most with a beautiful tube amplifier.

This set of Trenner & Friedl Pharoah MK2 comes from the first owner and was newly purchased in August 2020; the original purchase invoice is included.
