The Doepke DFS 2 F is an audiophile residual current device. A residual current device is a safety switch that trips when current flows to earth, for example when someone inserts a metal object into a power outlet. The residual current device measures this and cuts off the entire power supply. Very safe, but an ordinary residual current device is disastrous for the music experience. The current flow is strongly restricted, and the soundstage collapses. The residual current device sits in front of the group switches, which are circuit breakers or fuse holders.
