Lector Audio Italy introduces the completely new ZOE (Zero Ohm Energy) tube line preamplifier. The Lector Audio ZOE features a new and innovative power supply based on a parallel/shunt voltage regulator circuit. No active components in series with the power supply but only passive components such as high-quality resistors provide the voltage drop, while the active components are connected in parallel to keep the output voltage stable.

This new concept offers a virtual zero ohm energy output to the tubes without requiring a large amount of Negative Feedback. In fact, the Lector Audio ZOE is a Zero Negative Feedback design. The result is remarkably musical performance without the typical ringing effects caused by Negative Feedback.

Despite the simple basic design, the Lector Audio ZOE features advanced solutions found nowhere else, not even in designs many times more expensive. Simplicity is and remains very challenging in the audio world, and is certainly not easy to achieve. A shunt regulator becomes warm and requires a very generous transformer and very good cooling fins, due to the full Class A setting.

The preamplifier gain stage is an all-tube, Class A design equipped with a pair of renowned 6922 tubes (standard) or 6H30Π (optional). The latter is a new and very solid Russian military tube designed in current production for very demanding applications. This exceptional tube can deliver very high current. Thanks to the innovative Audio Bias Circuit (SATC), the new Lector Audio ZOE can also use a wide range of dual triodes such as the 12AT7 / 12AU7 / 6CG7 / 12BH7 / ECC802S according to user preference. This distinguishes it from the other Lector Audio preamplifier, the Lector Audio ZOR, which can only use the supplied tubes.

Changing the different tubes has never been easier. A large plexiglass plate on top of the ZOE can be removed by simply removing 4 screws, allowing you to change the tubes without having to remove the entire top cover. Another small window on the front panel gives you a view of the tubes, while a Back Light indicator shows the operational status. Very nice.

The Lector Audio ZOE features five line inputs, a mute/operate switch, auto-delay turn-on, and remote-controlled volume. There are also two sets of main outputs for, for example, the power amplifier and a subwoofer. Optionally available is a home theater direct output (HTD) which switches the input directly when the Lector Audio ZOE is switched off and bypasses the entire preamplifier circuit. This function is especially very useful in complex home theater installations and allows you to route the selected source signals to an external multi-channel processor.

The sound quality of the Lector Audio ZOE is fantastic. Pure enjoyment. Thanks to the completely new and proprietary Lector design with the shunt regulator, the Lector Audio ZOE is sonically particularly pure and clear. The Class A tube output stage provides plenty of warmth, but without the typical false tube warmth, which is caused by poor (too slow) design. We could spend many words on the purity, the enormous dynamics, the airy soundstage, the accurate imaging and the ability to reveal subtle details, but we prefer to invite you to come and listen to the Lector Audio ZOE. This Lector ZOE is in good condition and we have provided it with a newly matched pair of tubes. The optional aluminium remote is included.
