The Antipodes Audio P1 is a CD ripper with USB connection. The drive mechanism itself is housed in a heavy solid aluminium enclosure, which is ultra-stable. You will not feel the enclosure vibrate while ripping a CD. Extremely stable. The enclosure has the same dimensions as the new Antipodes Audio EX and CX high-end music streamers, and fits perfectly underneath them. Hence the name "plinth". This USB ripper can be connected to the backup USB port of the Antipodes streamers, and will then automatically rip your CDs in Flac Compressed or Flac Uncompressed to your Antipodes Streamer. Insert CD, close the drawer, and the P1 rips the disk bit-accurately. Fully automatic. The CD tray opens outward, so it is not a slot-in drive. This has major advantages when ripping modified CDs. We have had the habit, and still do, of grinding the CDs on the side. Try putting such a CD in a slot-in mechanism. The disk gets stuck immediately. Or discs with a damping layer on them? The disk will never come out. With the Antipodes P1, that is no longer an issue. Open the drawer, secure the disk and rip away. Of course, you can also connect the Antipodes P1 to your PC or Mac to rip using DB Poweramp or similar software.
