General : The Avalon Ascendant N (MK2) is the latest version of the Avalon Acoustics Ascendant, an outstanding and unique 2-Way loudspeaker. This latest version features the newest ceramic tweeter and a redesigned crossover filter.

Technical : The new Avalon Acoustics Ascendant N is a technically very well thought-out loudspeaker. Thanks to the new ceramic tweeter with its improved filter, the Avalon Ascendant N is able to convey even more subtle details and a lively sound compared to its already outstanding predecessor. The Avalon Ascendant N is not an enormously large loudspeaker, but it is heavy and solid in construction and beautifully refined. This set of Avalon Ascendant N is finished in what we consider the most beautiful finish, namely Walnut Cluster Burl. A dark and lively wood species with many natural patterns in it. The Avalon Ascendant N is a 2-Way system with fantastic drivers, namely the Avalon Acoustics Proprietary ceramic dome tweeter, and the very stiff and lightweight honeycomb kevlar woofer/midrange units, of which two are employed. Because it is a 2-Way system, the filter is simple and operation is straightforward. You don't need a massive amplifier to drive the Ascendant N, but the Ascendant N will certainly let you hear what quality the connected amplifier is. These loudspeakers deserve a good high-end amplifier; they will already sound very good with a decent amplifier, but with a true high-end amplifier this transforms into pure sublimity and finesse, resulting in pure listening pleasure. These Avalons, like all other Avalon loudspeakers, sound best with the front facing forward, as they are designed. The front contains damping felt strips which reduce radiation towards the sides. Due to this, minimal toe-in is required; Avalon loudspeakers are positioned either perfectly straight or with minimal toe-in.

Sound : Although the Avalon Ascendant N is not an enormously large loudspeaker, it doesn't sound like one. And by this we don't mean that the bass is enormously bombastic and explosive; we mean that the spatial imaging is enormous. Not only wide but also deep, truly a substantial 3D bubble in which you as the listener find yourself right in the middle. The emotional transfer is very good; voices and instruments come across very refined, drawing you into the recording time and time again. The difference from the standard Ascendant is clearly audible. This N version sounds more open and airy; the highs are cleaner and have more contrast. The Avalon Ascendant N is simply a very musical loudspeaker. Created and used by true audiophiles.

This Avalon Ascendant N is in mint condition, and what is particularly special is that the set is completely intact. Not only is the set finished in the much more expensive and exclusive Walnut Cluster Burl finish, but also the original shipping crate, Apex Cones (spikes), and the Avalon manual have been preserved. This makes this set of Ascendant N one of the rarest and most unique Ascendant N's on the market.
