Technical : The Ayre V-1X is a fully balanced power amplifier. What is special is that it is a Zero Feedback design, meaning without feedback. Just like the excellent Ayre K-1x Preamplifier. This does mean that you have to match all components in the amplifier, and if you understand that there are 64 output MOSFETs alone in the K-1X then you understand that this is an expensive amplifier. The Ayre K-1X easily delivers 200 watts per channel at 8 ohms and 400 watts at 4 ohms, so even difficult speakers are well driven by the V-1X. The speaker connectors are the excellent sounding Cardas speaker clamps, for spades only. The Ayre V-1X is a beautifully built power amplifier, with also a wonderful sound.

Sound : You really need to connect the Ayre V-1X in a balanced way, then it sounds as it should. The best choice is perhaps the excellent Ayre K-1x preamplifier, but other good truly balanced preamplifiers also work very well with the V-1X. Like the Ayre K-1X, the V-1X is very transparent and dynamic, but what also stands out is the extremely good reproduction of the midrange. Some amplifiers excel in fast and transparent treble reproduction, others have a beautiful midrange, and some amplifiers excel in extremely beautiful bass reproduction. The Ayre V-1X has it all. You simply forget that you are listening to a system, you immediately focus on the music, and that is a very good sign. This Ayre V-1X is a Dutch import, and comes from the first owner, is in perfect condition and is completely original, also with the original packaging.
