General : The Borresen 03 is the mid-sized floor-stander from Børresen Acoustics' '0-series'. A genuine high-end listening experience in a medium-sized format with sleek and beautiful design.

Technical : The Borresen 03 features a very thoughtful design. The cabinet is manufactured by Sino Factory, a Danish manufacturer. The black baffle is made of HDF in a clean and screw-free design. The drivers and crossovers are made in-house by Borresen themselves. The drivers and tweeter used are unique. The dipole planar tweeter is made from a special foil and has a moving mass of only 0.01 grams, driven by a fast and extremely powerful Super-Neodymium N52 magnet. The tweeter is housed in its own compartment within the cabinet, which is vented via two ventilation openings on the side and 1 port on the rear. The four 4.5" cones feature a 4-millimeter thick 'Nomex Core' design with two layers of non-woven carbon fiber from Japanese manufacturer 'Toray', a high-tech manufacturer that also produces components for Formula 1 cars and the aerospace industry. Like the tweeter, the cones are driven by a Super-Neodymium N52 magnet. The combination of a light moving mass and powerful N52 Neodymium drive results in extremely fast acceleration of the units, providing quick reproduction. The materials used ensure extremely low self-inductance, which results in minimal distortion or resonance. The Borresen 03 is an open system, but through the clever use of diffusers at the bass port, the port does not emit large sound waves with high energy toward the wall. Instead, the sound waves are dispersed and reduced, resulting in decreased energy output from the bass port. This allows you to place the Borresen 03 as close as 80cm from the rear wall without the bass resonating or dominating. Of course, more space around the speakers is always beneficial.

Versions :

Three versions of the Borresen 03 are available

- The standard 03. This features T2S decouplers between the cabinet and the floor platform.

- The Cryo version. This version is identical in construction to the standard version. However, the drivers and crossover components are cryogenically treated. The components are cooled to -196 degrees Celsius over 24 hours, then remain at this temperature for 24 hours before being brought back to room temperature over 24 hours. The entire process takes 72 hours. The internal molecular structure changes through this process, and stress in the materials is relieved. Additionally, the conductivity of the metal is increased by 6-8% and inductance is reduced by 6-8%. The result is a more transparent, direct, and detailed reproduction.

- The Silver Supreme Edition. This version is identical to the Cryo version, but features hand-cast and CNC-machined pure silver induction rings in the drivers. These dramatically change the driver characteristics in a very positive way. The inductance is so much lower that distortion is 40% lower. The Silver Supreme SE versions sound in a positive sense, otherworldly.

Listening : The Borresen 03 sounds like no other speaker. So controlled, so spatial and so refined and free of resonance, at any volume. It is immediately clear that we are dealing with a very special speaker. The reproduction is very precise and realistic, yet at the same time there is an enormous sense of calm throughout. You are immediately transported into the space where the performers are, whether it's a small studio, a large hall, or even a stadium. The Borresen 03 captures the atmosphere with great accuracy. The Borresen 03 can play quite loud, and even at the highest volumes the sound image remains stable and pleasant to listen to. Alongside high volumes, you can of course also enjoy very good performance at low volumes with the Borresen 03. Due to the extremely low moving mass of the ultra-light tweeter and midrange/woofers, you hear every detail clearly even with quiet music at room volume and enjoy a spatial soundstage. The Borresen 03 takes another step forward in terms of musical enjoyment, bass impact, and spatial imaging compared to the Borresen 01 and 02.
