General : The QBD76 HD is the former flagship D/A Converter from the British brand Chord Electronics. Chord Electronics manufactures various types of high-end equipment, but if there is one thing they are known for, it is their DACs. A distinctive sound and opinionated design—in an instant you see and hear that it is a Chord Electronics device. The design is relatively compact, the unique housing is machined from a single piece of billet aluminum, very solidly built and unmistakable. The glass on top offers a glimpse into the inner workings of the DAC where the display is also located, showing the input selection—a nice detail. Worth noting is that this is the HD version of the QBD76, meaning it is capable of converting high-res files up to 24bit/192kHz into music. Sonically, the Chord QBD76 is very open, refined, precise and dynamic. The placement within the 3D soundstage is also excellent with good separation of (multiple) voices and instruments. This DAC is in very good condition and comes complete with its original packaging and a Chord USB-A to CAMAC cable.
