The Focal Scala Utopia is a High End loudspeaker of medium size, made in France. Despite its modest size, the Scala Utopia is a speaker of the finest quality. The Scala Utopia is a 3-way system with a number of distinctive (sensible) characteristics and units. The bass unit, for example, is a 27cm W woofer with a Power Flower magnet drive. Very powerful, and this contributes to the Scala Utopia's high efficiency. The important midrange is reproduced by a 16.5cm W midrange unit, and the tweeter is the IAL2 Pure Beryllium inverted dome, one of the finest tweeters in the world. The Focal Scala Utopia is a full-range loudspeaker, which is also very suitable for smaller rooms. With its 85kg net weight, it is not one of the lightest, but certainly one of the most solid and least resonant loudspeakers on the market. The Focal Scala Utopia is also adjustable to the room and installation through bass and treble +/- 1dB jumpers. In terms of sound, the Scala Utopia is neutrally tuned and thus naturally sounding loudspeaker. The music takes the leading role and not the speaker itself. There is an enormous amount to experience, but everything is presented in a truly friendly manner. The highs are crystal clear, the midrange clearly contoured, and the bass beautifully pure and deep.
