The Lector Audio VM-200M is the monoblock version of the VM-200. The VM-200M is a typical example of a perfectly executed power amplifier. Powerful and highly musical. The natural sound of these power amplifiers stems from the exceptional design. The VM-200M has only 2 stages from input to output, and that is unique. These stages, the driver stage and also the power stage, each have their own power supplies including their own transformer. The driver stage itself consists of a PLC86 Vacuum Triode Tube for driving the Mosfet power bank. This tube in turn drives the Mosfet bank. Up to 20 watts, the Lector VM-200M runs entirely in pure Class A. The real world power output is 2 x 115 watts at 8 ohms and 2 x 180 watts at 4 ohms. Sufficient to bring every speaker to musical performance. The entire signal path is DC coupled, which means a capacitor-free and thus very clean and aging-resistant signal path. The transformer for the Mosfets is a specially wound 500 watt transformer, specifically designed for these amplifiers. The power bank has a storage capacity of 70,000 uF. The Lector VM-200M has a dual set of WBT speaker terminals for easy biamping applications. Brilliant, and every manufacturer should do this. The Lector VM-200M is built with only the finest components such as polypropylene capacitors, toroidal transformers, metal film and tantalium resistors. Built entirely in Italy, the Lector VM-200M is designed as a pure single-ended amplifier. Balanced designs, in their opinion, add nothing, can only deliver more power, but precision is often much less. And musicality often is too. In terms of sound, the VM-200M is a true Lector amplifier. The first thing that stands out is the enormous detail and matching musicality. The soundstage is vibrant, very pure and clean, and all musical instruments are completely separated from each other. The reproduction of vocals is excellent, and bass reproduction is beautiful too. Very clean, deep, and with character. What also immediately stands out is the enormous spatial imaging. The Lector VM-200M is a typical amplifier that is not at all obtrusive, but rather completely relaxing. These Lector VM-200M amplifiers are a real asset to the overcrowded amplifier market, and for what they deliver, technically and musically, they are downright affordable.
