General : We are selling this Linn Selekt DSM Classic Hub as an all-in-one streaming amplifier because of the modules it is equipped with. However, by nature it is a Linn Hub that is used as a streamer and controller for active Linn speakers. This unit features the best and most expensive stereo Organik DAC module, allowing you to use it as a streamer/DAC and preamplifier. Additionally, it is equipped with a 2 x 100 Watt at 4 Ohm Class D Stereo Power Output module, so you can use this Linn Selekt DSM Classic Hub on its own as a streamer and amplifier to connect speakers to. Modules can be changed by a Linn dealer if you have plans to use this device in a different way. For example, adding an analog output is possible by purchasing a Stereo Line Out module.

Streaming : Streaming with the Linn Selekt DSM Classic Hub can be done in many ways. You can easily use Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect or Spotify Connect. Additionally, streaming via AirPlay 2 or via Roon with the Linn as a RoonReady player is also possible. Linn also has its own application from which you can stream various streaming services and control and configure the device.

Sound : We evaluate this Linn Selekt DSM Classic Hub based on the modules it contains, which means we have evaluated the streamer, DAC and amplifier functions simultaneously as an all-in-one system. As an all-in-one streaming amplifier, the Linn Selekt DSM Classic Hub sounds extremely convincing. The sound character is honest, neutral and clean, but never harsh or clinical. The spatial imaging is large and transparent, and the music is reproduced rhythmically and lively. The stereo output module is powerful enough for many types of speakers, and with the Linn Space Optimisation software you can even specify which speakers you have in the Linn app so the Linn can adjust accordingly. That said, if you have speakers that are really known for requiring a powerful amplifier, it may be better to replace the Stereo Power Output module with a Stereo Line Output module and connect a more powerful external power amplifier instead.
