General: The Lumin U1 Mini is a high-end streaming transport, identical to the U1 with the exception of the internal shielded power supply and the case material.

Technical: With the Lumin U1 Mini transport, Lumin offers owners of high-quality D/A converters the opportunity to stream music at the highest quality. The Lumin U1 Mini offers a variety of digital outputs and is based on the high-end S1 streamer, but optimized for digital outputs.

After years of requests from existing high-end DAC owners, the Lumin team took the best components from the high-end S1 streamer and specially developed them for digital processing and output. The use of a new special Lumin U1 processor adds Upsampling and Downsampling for every supported format - all the way from 44.1 kHz up to DSD256 - and provides maximum DAC compatibility and optimization.

The Lumin U1 Mini offers you five different digital outputs, including USB Digital Out. Supported are DSD up to 256 11.2MHz 1-bit and PCM 44.1 - 384kHz 16-32-bit audio files. Internally there are four crystal clock oscillators with extremely low phase noise. The U1 Mini supports DoP (DSD over PCM) via the optical, coaxial (RCA and BNC) and AES/EBU outputs.

The Lumin U1 Mini streaming transport is equipped with all the conveniences and features that have made the brand so beloved and renowned. From MQA to DSD, from FLAC to WAV, this Lumin streamer plays all high-resolution files for you. With support for TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify and AirPlay you can choose from millions of tracks. With the free Lumin App you enjoy the easiest way to browse, select and play music and control the streamer. The Lumin U1 Mini is also Roon Ready and can therefore be used behind a Roon Server.

Sound: We have connected the Lumin U1 Mini to the Bricasti M1SE and compared it with other sources, such as the Antipodes EX, CX, DX and the Bricasti M5 streamer. Sonically, you can say that the Lumin U1 Mini handles the supplied bits very well. The Lumin U1 Mini sounds refined, spacious and not at all digital or analytical.

This Lumin U1 Mini comes with an external linear power supply from SBooster that clearly sounds better than the standard internal power supply. More space, more body and more detail in the music playback. This U1 Mini is in excellent condition and was delivered to the first owner in December 2020 (invoice available).
