Technical : The Marantz SA-10 is extremely solidly constructed and features a reliable and versatile transport mechanism. The chassis is made of heavy aluminum plates and the interior is fully copper-plated, the Marantz SA-10 weighs a healthy 18.4 kg. Specially developed for the Marantz SA-10 is the SACDM-3 transport. This mechanism not only plays CDs and SACDs, but also DVDs. There is also the option to play from an external USB stick or external USB drive via the USB-A input on the rear. You also have the option to connect another digital device such as a streamer via a coaxial cable to the coax input and a television via the optical input. There is also a USB-B input where you can connect a computer or USB streamer. The USB-B input accepts all PCM, DXD and DSD formats up to DSD256. The Marantz SA-10 is therefore extremely versatile. The Marantz SA-10 converts all incoming formats to DSD256, PCM signals pass through a digital filter during the conversion (one of the two FIR filters present), the user can set the noise-shaping, dither and roll-off to their personal preference.

Listening : The Marantz SA-10 is a precision player, the old, friendly and warm Marantz sound is nowhere to be found in the SA-10. But the Marantz SA-10 does not sound digital or technical, there is a sense of control in the sound. Piano tones and plectrum taps on guitar strings sound clear and sparkling but not exaggerated. You could simply say that the Marantz SA-10 articulates well, as it should. Listening fatigue is not an issue with the Marantz SA-10 due to the aforementioned control that is still well present in the sound and thereby provides a pleasant listening experience. The bass is nicely tight, fast and powerful. The spatial imaging is large and refined, and the voices and instruments have a realistic 'feel' that provides a very engaging listening experience full of emotion, whatever recording you listen to. This Marantz SA-10 was delivered to the first owner in April 2017, is in pristine condition and is complete with the original packaging and accessories.
