Technology : The Mark Levinson 585 is a fully balanced and discretely built 2 x 200 Watt stereo amplifier. All inputs are present. An excellent DA Converter is also built in, complete with USB, AESEBU etc. This Mark Levinson 585 is therefore a very complete High End amplifier. The construction is impressive. Typical Mark Levinson. An enormous chassis with a massive power supply, and equally heavy weight. The Mark Levinson 585 weighs no less than 33Kg net. If you look inside you will see why Mark Levinson amplifiers sound so good and have a very long lifespan. 30, 40 years is no exception. This Mark Levinson 585 has the same construction as the 585.5, however the latter has no DA Converter built in, but does have a phono input. Sonically they differ little from each other. The remote control is a beautiful aluminum example.

Sound : The Mark Levinson 585 sounds like a true Mark Levinson. Powerful, pure, calm and with enormous control over the connected speaker. The sound of the Mark Levinson 585 can never be called hyped, rather relaxed, but with tremendous refinement nonetheless. Bass reproduction is truly excellent. Full and deep, and very well controlled. The Mark Levinson 585 can probably drive any speaker on the planet well. This Mark Levinson 585 amplifier is in absolute like-new condition, Dutch import, and is completely complete.
